About me

Welcome. I am Rebecca, the creative force behind The Lorelei Cake Design.  Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, I have found various ways throughout my life to cultivate creativity and my ability to connect with others. While baking has always been a passion of mine, other pursuits have kept me busy as well.  For the better part of the last fifteen years, I have worked as a licensed psychologist in the Philadelphia area.  It has been an honor for me to help people work through difficult times and move forward with a better understanding of themselves and how to live their lives.

In the last several years, particularly after my daughter, Lorelei, was born, I have been drawn more and more to refining the art of my baking.   Everything about baking pleases me... the chemistry behind it, the opportunity for creative expression, the intricacies, the importance of fresh, quality ingredients, and the joy it brings others.

In combining my skills as a creative and empathic person, I enjoy working with others to design and create cakes that reflect them and their celebrations.

The Legend of The Lorelei

According to German legend, there was once a beautiful young maiden, named Lorelei, who threw herself headlong into the river in despair over a faithless lover. Upon her death she was transformed into a siren and could, from that time on, be heard singing on a rock along the Rhine River. Her hypnotic music lured sailors away from their boats, searching for her.
